The next time you want someone to do something for you, try and be prescriptive. Don’t be vague, unclear and fuzzy, coz that’s exactly what you’ll get back…
Clarity, and guidance on what you want a person to achieve not only helps that person understand, but it also pretty much guarantees the right result.
Next time you ask someone to do something for you, and they deliver something terrible, ask yourself why they delivered rubbish first before writing them off. 9/10 its because they didn’t understand clearly – not that they aren’t capable of doing it.
If you’re on the other end – you’ve got to probe – be brave – ask questions. In some situations this is hard, but you’ve got to do it! Believe.
