Twitter to really integrate search

So, mashable are reporting that Twitter will finally fully integrate search into their UI very soon (currently in testing).

twittersearchI blogged about the lack of this feature last month. I said then, and what I’ll say now is I am still extremely surprised it’s been buried in the UI. It’s without doubt the most useful part of Twitter to me, to find information I am interested in, and to also see reactions to my tweets and articles.

My concern is (and probably the reason why Twitter don’t pimp search) is that as soon as it becomes mainstream, the site is going to get hammered to death – and they won’t be able to cope. I think we’re in for a rocky ride over the first few weeks. It has a hard time as it is at the moment, sometimes taking upto 20 seconds to retrieve results, so I really hope they are scaling up the hardware in line with this cosmetic/user experience change…

Fingers crossed…
