Another “Why Twitter, Whhhyyy?” moment happened today for Twitter member @Zee. Let me tell you about @Zee briefly, he’s an experienced Twitterer having been using the service for +2 years, has 3600+ followers, and has made over 4400 tweets in that time… He’s been around the block! Not only that, but he’s a technologist. He’s down with the lingo, web 2.0 and all that jazz… meaning – he ain’t stupid.
Yet today, in my feed I saw this from @Zee:
“I would love a Twitter view for all tweets not starting with @.”
I thought this about a month ago, I hated all the strange one sided conversations going on in my feed. I wanted out. I found the solution in Twitter’s settings:
Why hadn’t I found this before? Well I read it and presumed it meant, “Show me no @SteveReynolds replies”. I of course, didn’t want that. I thought it was just me being stupid, yet it appears that this may be a common problem?
Sort it out…
Twitter really need to focus a bit more on their usability issues. I’ve blogged about this before – some really obvious issues not being addressed. @Zee even went to the expense of blogging about it to help other Twitter users – surely that’s a pointer to a bigger issue going on?
What are your experiences with the Twitter interface, do you find everything as obvious as it could be? Are you pulling your hair out because it’s not doing a simple task? Let me know! I’m genuinely interested…
