Back in January 2009 I downloaded Twitterrific on iPhone and Mac. I was new to Twitter, I didn’t follow anyone – and frankly, didn’t really get it. Twitterrific soon disappeared off of my iPhone, replace with Tweetie, Birdfeed, Twitterfon and more. Today, I returned to it. Realising I had actually been missing the iPhone Twitter app I had always wanted. Here are 9 reasons why Twitterrific wipes the floor with any other Twitter app out there on the iPhone.

1. Favourite searches remember the last downloaded tweets
God knows why none of the other Twitter apps appear to not do this. Twitterrific simply remembers the tweets you previously downloaded in your saved search, and just adds to them if there are any new ones. All the others just happily do another search, and return the same tweets over and over… (sigh).
2. URL shortener in tweet composer
With the introduction of copy and paste into the iPhone 3.0 OS software, the first thing I was eager to do was finally be able to paste links into my favourite Twitter app. Trouble is, the links were huge – but no way to shorten them other than going to an url shortening service beforehand. Rubbish user experience – Twitterrific fixes that and puts a nice option in the tweet compose window.
